my first short film ‘five angry black girls,’ produced through black girls film camp (bgfc), was an official selection at the 2024 essence film festival. my experience there was amazing! being featured in a festival that scale, amongst my own people, was surreal. it was so fun to have my friends, addison and avery, teen directors who also had official selections, to share that moment with. I know that i’ll appreciate it even more for years to come, especially being that my first short film was granted such an honour. i’m so grateful to bgfc and essence film festival for giving me that opportunity. i will never forget the time i had and i will definitely be back!
